my friend justin has a blog. this is interesting news. i like it when my friends have blogs... link at the right.
i went to a party on saturday in my twiggy costume. the twiggy costume consists of a mondrian-style dress that i bought at the vintage in okc. so when people would ask "WHERE did you get that dress?" i would say, well, it doesn't matter, just a far away place. that'd what oklahoma has become.. a far away place.
i found out my good friend e. sarmiento will be relocating to japan next week. i think this is amazing news. and i hope he enjoys all the sushi and sake. cheers to new adventures!
my cat was missing last week for four days. i think she got locked in someone's garage, or was caught in a tree. i thought she gone forever, then there she was waiting for me when i came home from work on friday. looking very ragged. she spent the whole weekend sleeping and moving slowly. i took her to the vet today and it turns out she fractured her jaw. she's there now, sleeping some more, with her jaw wired shut. i hope she gets better. i didn't realize how much i loved her until she was gone.
you don't know what you got till it's gone...

i wonder if going for drinks at 6pm, followed by going to the gym some time before it closes at 11pm, is possible. i have a feeling the drinks may impeed the gym going, as drunkeness and working out don't really mix. unless the working out is sex, and then of course, the drunkeness can help.
hmm. i'm meeting the boys at sabor latino around 6 for margaritas, and i'll either be drunk or lifting weights by 9. we'll see. maybe the fact that i'm walking the 1.5 miles from my house to the bar can serve as substitute to my workout regime.
i would very much like to sell my car. but now i'm stuck getting it inspected and registered. blah.
i don't feel like i'm very in control of my life of late. everything is going fine, but without me knowing it. i feel like i'm coasting. i need sit down and work out some things this weekend - finanaces, job prospects, automobile concerns..
the one year anniversay of the job approaches, and i wonder where i'll end up once it hits.

Did I mention yet that I had a fabulous weekend in North Carolina? Well, I did. Cheers to vacations.
This morning found me rather unsettled after getting pulled over on the way to work. Apparently I ripped through a school zone without realizing it. I'm not used to the way they're marking in Pennsylvania - a sign over the road instead of to the side, and no painted lines in the road to indicate one is coming up. And they're 15mph instead of 25. I was very busted. But the cop was really nice, in light of everything else she discovered I had going wrong.. namely: I had left my driver's license at home, I don't have a Pennsylvania Driver's License, Tags or Registration, my Oklahoma tags are expired, and I don't have a current inspection sticker. All told she could have nailed me for about $600 in fines but she very nicely let a few things slide, wrote me two citations totaling $225, that I can cut down to $50 in court fees if I show up in ten days with everything I need (PA driver's license, tags, and inspection). This involves scrambling for a lease from my landlady. That might not be easy to come by. But god bless that lady cop for taking pity on me. What would she have said if she knew the address she wrote everything to is actually now my old address, since I moved last month? lol...
This weekend will find me sitting at the mechanic getting my car inspected, waiting in line to get a driver's license, and maybe going pumpkin picking with some friends out at Linvilla Orchards in Media. All the waiting will be good opportunity to get some work done updating our tour itineraries, or maybe I'll knit. We'll see.
Happy weekend all...

So last night it was pretty cold outside - in the 40's - so I made an attempt to activate the heat in my house. Key word here being attempt. I had to call my friend Patrick to learn the mystery of the radiators that sit in every room - me being from the land of central heat and air, I had no clue as to their operation. Turns out there is a thermostat much like I am used to, and once activated, the radiators operate of their own accord. So I switched on the heat, set the box to a toasty 70 degrees, and sat down to watch sex and the city. Five minutes pass... "hmm, what's that smell?" I walk around the house to see if there is something somewhere sitting on a radiator that is getting too hot. I discover my laptop has been left on one, a sheet of paper on another.. I remove the offending items, assume that the danger has been averted, and sit back down to continue watching my show. Five more minutes pass... "shit, what is that smell?!?!" I walk through the kitchen to the back of the house, round the corner and down the back stairs to investigate the heating unit in the basement.. SMOKE EVERYWHERE. So picture me, frantically running up, jumping around, not sure what to do, trying to activate the house alarm system to call the fire department - which really just sets off the VERY LOUD house alarm, finally realizing I have to use my cell phone to call 911 - "Upper Darby Fire Department please!" - "there's smoke coming from my basement! i think it's the heater!" - go outside, wait in the cold at 10pm for two enormous fire trucks to come screaming down my street. The cat runs away. The neighbors are all out on their porches. They pile into the house to investigate, and it turns out that the INSTRUCTION MANUAL for the heating unit was sitting on top of it in the basement, it of course got really hot when the heater was on, and started to smoke. And apperently there is no water running through the system into the radiators, so the pipes and the unit got unusually hot. Landlady has to get the heater inspected.
le sigh.
I sit in my cubicle, eating yoplait custard style strawberry yogurt, in my white button down and my j-crew sweater (but with white fishnets in a shout out to my former life as a rock 'n roll girl), and I wonder if I'm going to be promoted. I don't particularly feel inclined to clean off the monster of papers that is my desk, or do the work that has piled up over the last few days. I am leaving for North Carolina on Saturday. I am very ready for this vacataion.

went straight from work on friday to the valley forge convention center to help host a tourism trade show. stayed in the adjacent hotel. jumped on and off about ten different tour buses, participated in silly cocktail hours, and ran my ass off carrying signs, boxes, and schedules. smiled the whole time. i'm sooooooo tired.
work all week, saturday mornin' i'm a jumpin' on a plane to fly to north carolina. i am looking forward to my improptu vacation. four days with no work spent in good company. cocktails without forced conversation. god bless that.
i applied for a promotion last friday as well. wish me luck.
