Important points to remember:

luggage tags now arrive 500 to a case, instead of 250.
martz trailways are to receive two copies of the vhs, not one.
and don't forget to fax the sponsorship contract to the courtyard by marriott.

When I was in high school, there was this little prick young republican that I used to get into debates with in History class. He then went on to a be a national merit scholar at OU and start the Fountainhead. The point of this? None really, except that last night I stumbled on an extra ticket to hear Michael Moore speak at the Tweeter over in beautiful Camden, NJ (just o'er the river from Philadelphia), and I was reminded how much I hate uptight rich white people like I was forced to grow up with in Edmond, Oklahoma. Today I volunteered for the Kerry campaign, and I'm going to shove the truth down the throats of those rich white yuppies who are chanting 'four more years' while our soldiers are dying and our image on the world stage continues to deteriorate... I received my voter registration card yesterday. I'm tired of lies.

Fahrenheit 9/11 might premiere on television the night before the election. Keep your fingers crossed.

friday night I revisited a familiar place while amidst new surroundings. I walked the east village with my friend, we met up with other normanites in a pub, and there was a familiar face there to greet me, with his same old smile, just as warm and happy though nearly four years removed from any significant encounter. We watched the people, laughed, there were loud conversations, big boots, a sticky table... by the end of my second drink I was dozing on that same old wool encased shoulder, completely at ease while surrounding by chaos. As we stood outside and shared a cigarette, i said to him, "you and i in new york - who ever would have imagined?" and he laughed. we walked up st. mark's arm in arm, smiling at the passing couples, laughing at the craziness of the east village way past midnight. at stromboli he bought me a slice, we sat in the window and watched the crowds. the cab ride home was long and the air bit my face and mussed my hair, we left the windows down despite the cold. i remembered how it is to feel at home with someone, when he kissed me goodnight and left me to sleep, i laid peacefully and listened to the honking traffic and a harlem street corner raging outside. old lovers make the best friends, i think.

last night after lifting weights, i was left wanting more. i caught my self sideways eyeing a few of the machines i didn't learn on my orientation - and wondering what other muscles i could bulk up. when i was a sophomore at OU i dated a body builder for a while, and now i'm beginning to understand why he would roll out of bed at 6am to hit the gym. i've been missing out all these years...

a bonus to being so thin is that as you build muscle the tone is visible very quickly.

tonight trains trains trains to nyc. i love the east coast!

p.s. curtis i think i forgot to include you in the "here is my new phone number" email

Laziness confirmed: despite my best efforts, I am not cut out for a dual-job lifestyle. Not to mention that telemarketing sucks, even if you are calling an assured culture-loving ballet-esque market. I have returned to my blissful 35 hour work week, I'm poor, and I'm happy.

To celebrate, I went shopping and bought some things I can not afford. Hoo-ray.

I am going to whack my hair off. It's official. Having nearly reached shoulder length (first time in 3 years!), I have decided that long hair makes me look frumpy, I don't really like brushing it all that much, and it takes far too long to dry. I will miss the french-braiding I've achieved, but c'est la vie. So as soon as I have time to make an appointment, snip snip, I'll be my old pixie self again! I bought a jaunty new hat to celebrate. The real question is, now what color to dye it? Back to red? Dark chocolately brown? Anything but this dishwater, please. Feria here I come.

Back up to NYC this weekend for multiple cousin encounters - Claire has a new baby and I get to snuggle with it. And play guitar for a 5 year old, sounds just like home. Central park? A beach on Long Island? Cute kids? Yes indeed.

My dad is coming to Philly for a weekend visit roundabout Halloween. That should be good times.

Last night I called to with my brother happy birthday, and I spent some time on the line with my neice. She wanted to tell me about the new things she is learning in kindergarten, she recited the pledge of allegiance, and together we sang a rousing rendition "You're a Grand Old Flag" -

I think that will stand true as the highlight of my month.

so leaving the house at 8.30am and not getting home until 10pm definitely wears a body out. but not so bad as to hinder my ability to do that three days a week. for now at least, i think the extra $$ will make it worthwhile. the people at the ballet seem nice enough. it reminds me of the day job social scenario - no one i'll really be friends with, but people that will at least be pleasant to be around. and eccentric, my goodness, are a few of them a little unusual! variety is the spice of life.

i was surprised at the subscription sales office set-up. no computers involved - you just get a table and a little single-line phone. it's simple and effective, just a question of keeping the cards with calling info organized, and taking good notes. they give cash bonuses at the end of the night, so i get to start saving those up like i used to when i had tip jobs. a few dollars a day into a jar can add up really fast. and we get free tickets to the ballet.

my day job isn't going very well, i'm worried about it, but time heals all wounds, right? right. there are lots of jobs popping up at member sites that i would like to apply for but i think i'm going to hold out at this job for a year. trying to at least.

and you guys would laugh if you could see the size of the bag of food i brought with me today. when you have to pack lunch and dinner together, and you're working to pack on the pounds, you can fill an entire grocery sack pretty fast. here's to fattening up!

today i successfully woke up early, and had extra time to drink coffee and read newsweek. tomorrow's goal: wake up early and hit the gym.

i have always considered myself to be a very lazy girl. laid-back would be the polite way to put it, but really just lazy.

well, no more lazy time for me! i took the job with the ballet, which means my spare time has been greatly reduced. three nights a week will now find me leaving my office in the expansive suburbs, driving into south philadelphia in the fun fun rush hour traffic, and walking up some dingy stairs to my second job. i'm a little worried about the stress levels. i don't know if i'll be able to handle working a 12 hour day 3 days a week, plus saturday mornings, but i'm going to give it a shot. it will increase my bi-weekly income by about 30% (not counting comission). so i'll have more money but less time to spend it in. it will help me boost my savings and fulfill my dream of buying a house by the time i'm 30, and maybe lead to a better paying full-time gig, so i won't have to work two jobs anymore.

hmm, i'm dubious. suspicious of my ability to handle the load, but i'm going to give it a shot.

the goal: hold down two jobs. work out three times a week. pay all my bills on my own, without charging up my credit card. repay the loan from my mom. keep putting 5% of the salary into my 401k, plus contribute to my savings each month. thank god i found a cheap place to live that's all bills paid!

it's girls night out tonight, and i'm happy at the prospect of enjoying cosmos with andrea and mimi somewhere in old city. huzzah!

i would like to reiterate the coolness of accuradio. If you have an office job that is condusive to listening to music over your computer - check it out.

Hearing the smiths makes data entry much more bearable. Plus, it drowns out the surrounding offices noisy sales calls.
