this is kinda fun. thanks clay's archives.
i was going so great today and then right at 2pm - crash - so tired - can't focus on anything. It's a shame because I have stuff I could be doing.
I'm think I'm going to start volunteering at the park the odd weekend.. my company maintains the visitor information desk there.
And speaking of the park, wtf?!?!
did you ever google yourself? this is what i found, also this. via imdb, did you know that i moonlight as an artistic director of canadian films about attractive young lesbians who meet in vancouver?
but this one was the most interesting of them all.

This house is very full of cat. My tiny PK, who since I rescued her from the porch of the Library has been very distrustful of other cats, follows me around at my heels and then sits close to wherever I land. She fights with the other cats, which I don't quite understand. For no apparent reason - just enters into the hostile body positioning and starts to hiss and growl when another one strolls into sight. They are both twice her size, and have expressed a mild interest in her, but for the most part, just ignore her. It's very bizarre. The other cats are friendly enough, they have very hoarse meows, and I don't like the way their wet cat food smells. I have to feed them twice a day. And they jump up on the end table and beg when I eat in the recliner.
(there's a hiss)
(and a growl)
can you tell i'm bored when i start to post about my cat? polyphonic spree show tomorrow, followed by a random birthday party for one of charlotte's friends, and maybe a ramble through central philly if my wishes are to be granted. i'm supposed to stay over at jack's and copy some of his cd's, to aid in the ease of driving him and his friend peter to BJ's wholesale whats-it-called on Sunday. Apparently the east cost equivalent of a Sam's Club, where I can get lots of toilet paper very cheaply. They're getting me a tank of gas, which costs about $25, and so I'm definately getting the happy end of the deal.
I'm sad because I wanted to go up to Harlem next weekend for Nate's party, but that's the weekend everyone is protesting the RNC, and I don't think it would be the best night for me to be hanging out in Manhatten.
I've been playing with my landlady's voice-over-ip phone, and i can call anywhere for free. So if you want me to call you, post a comment, and i will.

Still lovin' the house. Beginning to love the neighborhood! i went to a granola-esque house party in west philly on saturday night, to support the efforts of some local compatriots to attend and protest the RNC this month, and I made a friend! I'm excited. His name is Justin, he lives right by me in Upper Darby, and last night we ate at this really tasty korean barbeque that is so close to my house. Right by the asian grocery, and the yummy vietnamese restaurant, and the subway stop into Philly.
Work is pretty decent as of late as well. Not as mind-numbingly boring as in months past - good project going, and a new one starting soon. The communications manager is helping me get photoshop on my box, so I'll be looking forward to playing with it. And my interim supervisor is leaving for awhile and will quit asking me to do things for her condescendingly! yes! (she can't make her own travel reservations, or phone calls, or look things up online, apparently)
Hmm in other news.. I've started up watching the LOTR trilogy before bed. Giving it about an hour a night, almost done with Fellowship, and I'd forgotten how pretty some of the shots are. And I'm knitting (what I hope to be) a pretty poncho.
This weekend is a Polyphonic Spree show downtown, and next weekend maybe a Phillies game (my first time to flex my connections, they joined the tourism bureau, and might comp me some tickets + give me a behind-the-scenes tour)
All in all, life is improving and I am well. Hope the same can be said for all my ghost readers out there..

I joined the phillyknitters community on livejournal. Those girls are so cute! They get together once a month for a stitch 'n bitch, plus they have a secret pal program where they mail each other little anonymous gifts. How sweet is that. They have given me some good suggestions for a poncho pattern, and I discovered there some good yarn stores nearby.. hmm...
methinks it is going to be a knit and olympic weekend. the opening ceremonies are on nbc tonight - swimming tomorrow, and gymnastics start Sunday!

The lack of television at my new place is a wonderful stimulation to start new projects. For instance, I just bought two pretty laminated maps on RandMcNally.com. One is of the continental US, so I can plot my travels, and one is of Southeastern Pennsylvania, so I can plot the locations of the touristy places I represent, and maybe put together some tour itineraries on my own (something I'm interested in trying out to make my job more interesting). It may also stimulate me to get off my ass on weekends and visit some of these places I am so-called "representing." Other projects: knit something, as the cold season is approachin. I'm scared of how bad the winter here will be. (Can't be worse then Sweden, cross my fingers...)
Hooray for the time and inclination to do new things, and having the wall space to do them on!

My new house is only four (count 'em four) miles from my friend's apartment in west philly. This means... drumroll please... that I can conceivably get a bike and peddle my way into the city! Thourgh a horrible neighborhood, yes, but saving on gas and not dealing with parking! Hoo-ray.
Added bonus, my new house is less the 1 mile from the end-of-line terminal for one of the philly subway lines. The subway is really scary, but still, it's there.
Hoo-ray!

a new salvation for the work day boredom by way of accuradio. i tuned into the 'twang' channel, and got a playlist that includes 16 horsepower, the kinks, the lips, julianna hatfield, elvis costello, and other lesser known twangy bands. i'm mucho pleased.
the move commences tonight!

How come I never knew that clay had a blog?
I'm sick again, it isn't much fun, but like all things in life, I will survive. I couldn't go to Long Island, so that stinks. Instead I get to watch a lot of tv, and I drove myself to the ER for antibiotics perscriptions earlier. It was nice to get out of the house, we're having such beautiful weather this weekend. Move on Monday! I will do it no matter the obstacle.

Home again home again. I enjoyed my hiatus from the working world. The traveling wore me out - now I have a bit of a cold, but nothing serious.
Highlights of the week:
* My screaming five-year old niece running up to hug me when I walked into our hotel. She is mad at Pennsylvania for taking me away * Driving my mom's new honda - and realizing maybe I don't exactly want/need a new car * Meeting my great-aunt who lives in Northern PA - she's going to write me a letter * Making my nephew laugh his cute baby laugh * Watching the midwest roll by out the window of my brother's van * Buying chicken nuggets at the world's largest McDonald's in Vinita, OK * EATING MEXICAN FOOD! (twice) * Riding a creaking bicycle around Norman late at night * Sharing beers with friends * Explaining to okies 'no I didn't move back, I happen to be doing just fine' * Returning to Philly and realizing how much I've grown to like it out here
That last one was the best part of all. Car being inspected this friday to evaluate potential repair costs should I decide to keep it. Moving to my new place on Monday. Up to Long Island soon for beach time with cousin's babies. Now if work would just stimulate me my life would be complete!
