two nice things about living at home:

1. the healthy balance in my checking account
2. being able to listen to 105.3 the spy
It's been a good few days for phone calls. Jay communication was finally achieved. It's funny how hearing someone's voice for the first time in a year and a half can bring them right back into your mind. It's like I have never not heard it, we were right where we left of, back on that wayside residential street in Sweden where we said goodbye. It was a great conversation. Old friends are the best friends -

Amber called me to say thanks for attending her soiree last weekend. That was a fun party. Running into Alison was so nice, as she is so entertaining to be around. Not to mention I got to see a tempur-pedic in the flesh. Cheers to parties. The best part was getting a phone call on my mom's line. That NEVER happens. I felt special.

And of course hearing from Seneca is always an interesting experience. We had a great chat, and I am pleased to know that there is yet another kind soul putting there faith in me during the up's and down's of this whole job search experience. I am not alone.

Pat is on his way down to Oklahoma. I hope I get to see him, a hug would be nice. And a smile.

Cheers to smiles.

i'm BORED bored BORED bored. frustrated that i can't get an old friend on the phone to wish him happy holidays. but i did get to talk to his brother briefly, and his canadian accent had me giggling the rest of the day.

hmm otherwise, i saw a good show last night by way of a mudslingers reunion at the blue note. it was fun. i got to see some old friends, and this time, old friends i actually wanted to see, as opposed to random crappy people i just 'ran into' somewhere. namely my good friend justin's mom. she's a sweetie. she bought me beer, that was pretty funny. and justin. he's back from living and teaching in mexico, good to know i have another friend in the city to hang out with. and climb with! yea climbing!

that's all for now.

christmas in review:
shirt, electric toothbrush, book, cd, ornament, foot scrubbing kit (what?), calendar, gift certificate, scarf + gloves, another gift certificate, lip gloss + soap with a rubber ducky in it

i think that's about it. i have discovered the secret to why i always spend too much money on my family at christmas, and it ends up seeming like i get a lot less then i give. it's because all the married people get me one thing from both of them, but i get them individual gifts. case in point: my brother's family. brother got book + cd. wife got book. little girl got dress-up clothes, baby boy got first christmas ornament. i got a shirt, from all of them. what a load of crap! but it's ok, because the gifts i got them are all cool and fun, and i definately wanted to give them, which is more important anyway. ah, the christmas spirit.

otherwise i'm pretty bored. i only work 13 hours this week, so i guess a majority of my time will be spent looking for something better to do. any suggestions?

Off of work, with two paper cuts on my left hand, scars from being a gift wrapping master. case in point: at the barrel we sell little sticks with horse heads, the little kid kind, where you gallop around with the stick and pretend it's a real horse. if you push the horse's left ear it makes galloping sounds, and then the horse neighs. they're pretty cute. tonight i wrapped one WITHOUT USING A BOX. that's right. i just wound that baby up in paper with no shape to follow. i am that good.

now i'm going to eat milk and cookies, and go to sleep. cheers!
It's the little things like this that make me smile.

Hi Kate,
it was good to hear from you the other day, I hope that the employment situation works out with STA travel.
I`m back home having a leisurely hol. It really is cold here, but the more significnt thing is the fact that the English would rather not use their energy to keep their houses warm. The yanks have many virtues.
Anyway, just to say, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Pips,
Jude

living at home is very boring. to fight the boredom, i decided to go get some take out and order a movie. i've been inside all day. just like i was inside all day yesterday, in my comfy pants and sweater and my little grey socks with the tred on the bottom so you don't slip on the linoleum. so i traded comfy pants for jeans, put on my sneaks, and headed to randy's m&m's for movie goodness. my hair was askew, my glasses were dirty, and i had on no make-up, but who cares for 5 minutes in the movie store? nobody, right?

WRONG.

who is attending the desk. but my high school crush. crush talk has been rampant lately.. i found out someone used to have a crush on me in high school, well, this guy was my high school crush. HUGE. crush. enormous. I was so flustered it took me like 25 minutes to pick a movie, and I was ducking down behind the rows the whole time, and I tried to get the other guy to check me out, but the phone rang. DAMNIT! so crush boy turns with that cute little smile and that same cute little voice and just drawls out "well hello miss kate..." argh. he made polite conversation. i made polite conversation. then i went into the car and screamed.

of all the freakin' people to run into when i look like crap! it's like i told him, this town is just one big stupid fucking high school reunion.
