So an update seems in order. Let's see, what's new? We'll go backwards. Last night I went with a friend down to norman. We went to the opolis and saw this great pop band goldenboy. it turns out I had grabbed their album on a random dive into the freebie bin at the record store last week, so I listened to it on the way down, and they rock the house! they were even better live. definately worth the drive.
Otherwise just been working a lot, and checking out movies from the library. I watched The Graduate. The greatest scene is where Benjamin is floating in the pool, and his dad walks up to him and says something along the lines of "you know son taking a few weeks to kick back and drink beer is all well and good but have you given any thought to graduate school? i mean, what was that four years of college for?" and Benjamin replies "You got me."
I know EXACTLY what he is talking about.
Nothing new to report on the job front. Sent my resume to the Gazette again, they still have two sales jobs open, I'm going to call them next week and see what's up. Thinking more and more about relocating. It wouldn't be so bad, just have to sell my car. But where to go? D.C. is appealing. I miss Patrick.
But otherwise.. it's nice to be working. Mom and I are getting along pretty well. I like being babied a bit. Free stuff is fun. I'll be out on my own soon enough. May as well enjoy it while I can.

i have a cold. i had to call out of work. now i have to stay home. that's a downfall to living with your mom, once you call out of work, you really have to be sick, and not leave, because if you do, she'll say "you weren't really sick!" and get mad, because she had to turn right around after coming home from a long day of teaching and go cover your shift.
it's weird to work at the same job your mom works at when she's not teaching.
but i AM really sick. sniffly, headache, sneezy. i took nyquil, but all it did was keep me awake for 36 hours. so now i suffer in silence. with tylenol and cranberry juice to appease me. i am so sick of watching television. there is no one to talk to online, there is no one to call, there is nowhere to go. woe is me! i have to work tomorrow and sunday, so rest is in order. if i take another bath i will turn into a prune.
here are some of the things i have to play with, but at the time, do no interest me. inventory of kate's room. *ahem*
child-sized classical guitar. adult-sized acoustic guitar. banjo. casio keyboard. it was a birthday prestent in the 6th grade. a tambourine. a pair of maracas. an etch-a-sketch. a stereo, a nintendo, a computer, lots of music...
despite all of this, and substantial amounts of reading material, i persist in thinking that i have nothing to do.
i am so bored.

Honored and respected sir:
I think my fingers and toes will soon develop a permanent wrinkle, given all the baths I've taken in this last week I've been home. 2 a day. With bubble bath, without bubble bath, sometimes with candles, always with a book, always lasting far beyond 30 minutes and requiring a second drawing of hot water.
Ah the joy of having a tub again.
Life is well for me, aside from not being able to get you on the phone! I feel lost having not gotten to talk to you for so long, but I can never seem to get through, so I officially give up. It's too discouraging to get that recorded message every time. Call me sometime when you get a spare minute, I can call you back from my mom's if you don't have long distance.
Otherwise things are good. Driving down to Arlington on Sunday for that interview. Starting at Cracker Barrel next week gift-wrapping and souvenir-selling, and food eating, I'm looking forward to the 50% meal discount on my shifts. I also went to Penn Square Mall today to apply for a job at a make-up counter. I ran into some old friends last night at the Hi-lo, two girls I used to know in Norman who work there now. One is the manager and said she could hook me up with a Christmas/possible long-term full-time job. Not a bad gig - pays really well, get to play with make-up, and possibility of advancing to more business-like endeavors with the company.
My mom and I are getting along surprisingly well. Likely because I do most of the cleaning when she is working and can't see all the things I throw away :) It's nice to be where someone takes care of me. She's going to get me a new knob for the heater control in my car, that's love I tell ya. Someone told me I deserved the break, I'm not sure I agree, I feel altogether too lazy as of late... but I'll enjoy it while I can.
I've been reading one of my favorite books that's told from the viewpoint of the main character writing letters. Thus the long and descriptive passages contained here. Once upon a time, I was a great letter writer myself... maybe it's a habit I'll rekindle.
Stay well.
