The die are cast
OU-Texas plans officiated by hotel room rentals online and exchanging of Visa number. Sofie, Susannah, Caroline and I are ho for the Grand Canyon next Thursday. We'll stay over one night in Albuquerque and then two nights in Arizona. Tentative plans include lots of hiking and swimming and possible riding upon a donkey or two (naughty) Should be good times! Have to take the Honda in for a tune up before we depart. I should call my Dad to come and say hi to us, it's only a small jump from his California coastal locale. Vacation! Yes!!!
They also want to go and visit Mickey over Christmas. Now is there anyone out there I know who could help me with that?
Called the shot
Made an 82 on the Promo exam :) only 1 point off!
T-minus ten seconds
The big shaggy licky dog was very happy to see me on Saturday, and so was her owner. We did Galileo's patio under the peaceful night sky, pizza and uncountable numbers of beers, followed by drunken rampages around the tree farm where he works on a souped up golf cart. I made a new friend, Misty, she works in the ICU at Mercy Hospital. Shares my affection for Fuzzy Navel wine coolers fireside under the stars with bearded boys. Nice weekend! Nice nice nice.

Rocket boy, rocket boy --- when are you gonna land?
(me) Hi is this Brian?
(rocket boy) Who is this?
(me) This is Kate... (trailing pause)... is this Brian?
(rocket boy) Yes?
(me) I'm not sure if you remember me or not, but we met at Katie's campout a few months back?
(rocket boy) Oh yeah!
(me) The guitar girl.
(rocket boy) Oh yeah!
(me) So I ran into Katie on campus today and I asked her for your number, I'd been wanting to call you up for awhile.
(rocket boy) I'm really glad you called.
(me) I can't believe you remember me.
(rocket boy) You were wearing green pants and a black shirt...
(me) *stunned happy silence*
(rocket boy) Anyways I want to apologize if I did anything stupid that night, I was pretty drunk.
(me) It's ok. I've been around enough drunk people to handle it. That was pretty funny when you shot the bottle rocket right past my face...
And the rest, as they say, is history. We're supposed to get together next week and hang out, after my test and before he leaves for vacation. He said he was really glad I called three times. Wonder if he is really as cool as I gathered, drunk over a period of four hours at a campout back in June? Maybe it was just the atmosphere. He told me my fireside guitar playing was beautiful. That's the first time anyone has ever said that to me. 1,000 instant cool points. Not to mention his gorgeous licky huge happy shaggy dog.
My life seems to revolve around interactions with members of the opposite sex. And their pets.
Amazing Grace
I scored a 58 on my Management test. Eek. It's worth 5% of the final grade, God bless. Just finished up the Promotions exam and I would estimate a score somewhere in the neighborhood of 83. Despite the fact that my studying last night got distracted, still remembered random facts from the book all the same. I stopped to visit Amber on a "study break" and stayed for two hours longed then intended.. drinking rum.. and swapping stories. Such is life. I hope I get to go (hah, am invited) to her and Adam's wedding in December. Orlando, ho! Other weekly highlights, guitar lesson Monday. Eric taught me a song that doesn't require singing along to be pretty. But he thinks I should just work on my singing as opposed to learning songs that don't require it. I'll stick to my folky strumming for now... stubborn student that I am. Wish I were Pasty Cline!
Penny for your thoughts...
Happy birthday Aaron!!!

I rocked the career fair! And one suspicion has been affirmed: heels sucks. They were only kitten-heeled (fashion impaired read: low heels) and I still towered over everyone and had sore ankels and toes and calves. Interesting finds include the Peace Corps, the Department of State (Ambassador type things), Walgreens, and a few Texas-based grocery store chains. And the guy from Sherwin-Williams liked me. I could run a paint store! I think that would be kinda fun.
Neat neat neat. More studying to be had! Love to all.

braum's drive-thru speaker: what can I get for you?
me: I'd like a number 6 with a chocolate shake and a gallon of whole milk please.
braum's drive-thru speaker: we're out of milk.
WTF?!?!?!
On a similar twilight zone thought, I went to put gas in my car today for the trek home and discovered that my gas cap is gone.
At least my laundry is done. And I did get to nap on my mom's couch while listening to friends, and pet the cat. Not that anyone cares really, but it was rather nice. One test got postponed to the following week (October 1). I did a shimmy in my chair to celebrate.
Question of the day. Do I alienate myself from people or do people alienate themselves from me?

i really hate it when people don't print on front and back of the page. i know it's because they don't know they can. it sucks. paper wasters!!!!

question of the day. now that i will be leaving norman next august, assuming all goes according to plan (dangerous assumption? but wait, that's not the question), everyone wants to know, where will i go?
good question. i have a tentative list that is about five miles long.
london, nijmegan (amsterdam-ish), brussels, berlin, (switch!), tulsa, dallas, austin, st. louis, green bay, seattle, new york, orlando, atlanta, san francisco, chicago (hi michael!), toronto, vancouver, (switch!), melbourne, sydney, or one of those teaching exchanges in asia. it's nice to think of all the worldly connections i have. 15 cousins means guaranteed place to stay - or at least a guide - in any major american metropolis. leslie lives in manhatten and jenny is in san fran, they're running out for first place right now. next week it will be somewhere different... weee!

seven new emails, yes!
oh wait, it's all junkmail, no!
such are the ups and downs of my life.
congratulations are in order. i just spent one full hour locked away in my secret room up in the top of bizzell reading about strategic marketing management. one small step for mankind, one giant leap for up-until-now-completely-unable-to-concentrate-when-reading-boring-business-textbooks kate. thank you thank you. no autographs please. of course this is but one tiny taste of the work i have to do but the fact that i actually got out of bed and out of my cozy apartment and into that study room was such a good thing to happen today! so now i'm a good mood. cheers to that. graduation peeked over my shoulder today. oh and you have to come see my apartment! if i decide to buy that chaise lounge thing it will be the height of badass!
i'm going to dallas next friday night for the arrows show! insert happy kate shimmy *here*

Here is a little know fact: I once attended a victory party. Yes, yes I did. September of 1998. Two weeks into college - a scraggely boy from Deer Creek called and asked me to go with him and his fraternity to the Red Room for post game festivites. We had never met in person, my friend had given him my number, so we ate breakfast once together in Couch Cafeteria, after which he tried to give me the slip. But I would not be slipped. Went, dressed in my finest black miniskirt, white sluty tank, and black heels - stayed 20 minutes, and ditched him. Ran away with my high school friend Justin - We tightroped walked down the railroad tracks from Main Street to Bishops Landing and proceeded to get really drunk at my brother's apartment. Our football team was such absolute shit back then. Ah, those were the days.
Not really. I was pretty confused most of the time (some things never change). Point is I still have the party's t-shrit. I'm wearing it tonight here in the library computer labs and getting many a questioning glance. I get those a lot - I'm either completely paranoid, or just really funny looking. Unforgetable I suppose some would say. I think my face just doesn't match up with "SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON VICTORY PARTY." I hope not!
I am need of Curtis's services. Once he offered to come and sit over at my apartment in his boxers and a wife beater to scare away an unwanted fan I had. The fan is back. Why oh why must Spokane be so far away? Such is life. It's too bad the original tale is unavailable - I didn't start my webpage until about 6 months later. Let's just say there is good reason my contact info on the OU site is 2 years out of date. Sheesh. Why don't nice cute boys ever like me? "Freaky people need not apply..."
The boys have updated again - many good shows to be seen this month. Other interesting information to be found here - as a friend would say, lotta good stuff! Check them out, you won't regret it.
