my dreams of being a CEO have been helplessly destroyed. such is life! actually i was so nervous beforehand I think I bombed my little "elect me please!" speech on purpose. the other candidate was obviously superior, and after he was finished I raised my hand and said "can I vote for him? or am I allowed to vote?"
good job mike!
and then he and I walked home from class together and compared ideas and hopes for our blossoming little corporation. sounds likes it will be lots of work but also lots of fun. I have pretty much instilled myself as the corporate secretary. anything that has to be written and typed up I do after class, and I take minutes at the meetings. I'll just be the organizational guru, that's what I'm best at.. keeping all the paperwork neat and tidy.
the game was lots of fun! except it was about 101 degrees in the stadium, but they passed out sombreros in the student section, something about hispanic scholars being honored.. so we all got sombreros. kept the sun off my face nicely, but, as a penalty for being so tall, i had to take it off when the game started so the girl sitting behind me could see the field. why couldn't I be 5'6" like all the normal women? but therein lies my charm I suppose.
and I also had a horrible guitar lesson. shame shame shame on me for not practicing! it will be better next week. already spent about 30 minutes tonight working on my oasis song. barre chords are kicking my ass.
I've done really well on my first two exams - management and business law. I have another one in management wednesday, so on that note...
sionara.

so many stories, so little time!
funny tidbit #1: while slaving away at the old half-ass on tuesday, I was treated to the screaming excitement of fire trucks and ambulances racing into the parking lot of the stubbeman mall. the commotion lasts about 30 minutes, and I of course am stuck behind my little counter, wondering what the hell is going on over there by papa john's. and it turns out, someone passed out in a tanning bed at Sandy Beaches. So they're banging down the door and he doesn't wake up, they go in and open up the bed, and he doesn't wake up.. they shake him, slap him, and he doesn't wake up... so they call an ambulance. He wakes up just as the paramedics arrive, and greets them with this SHINING comment:
" hey man, i like, just took like, 2 xaney bars. i didn't think it would fuck me up like THAT bad. "
the moral of the story is: don't take drugs. especially don't take drugs and go tanning. i would have arrested him. no contest. on the grounds that he is a dumbass.
funny tidbit #2: they've made me a "manager" at half-ass. they being equal to my stoner hippie boss, and only so I'll have something to put on my resume. so I think I'm hot shit now because I have the authority over the other little minions at my cigarette-infested domain. really it only means I get to make the schedules and order as much pepsi as I want. so what can be better then that? I might get to be president of a company! A real live money-making machine. I'm taking a class called Integrated Business Core Practices, which adds up to 12 hours of credit in which you and your company-mates (about 35 of us all together) go get a loan from a bank, and make something, and sell it, and give the profits to charity. Real money, real people, real stuff. We had our first company meeting today and I took charge of completeing the assignment, and I'm leading our little group discussion, and someone is like, hey, do you wanna be president? (nobody wanted to be president when we polled the class) And no I don't really want to be, but maybe I will, just for kicks. It would look really good on my resume! I just wonder if I could handle it. You have to do everything from scratch... decide on a product, have it manufactured, get the loans, propose marketing plans, sell the product, and coordinate community service activites. Ouch that's a big job. I'd have 35 people helping me... would I really want to be in charge of such a mob? Man oh man. Just don't know what to think!
and that's enough fun for today. ta-ta!

well aaron was right (imagine that)
austin is pretty darn cool. i didn't get much time to check out the scene... just dinner at a dive mexican joint, it was way tasty, and then a campus tour courtesy of a friend, and a stop in at one of their humungous cd stores. i thought cd zone was cool, obviously i've never been to the big city before. hopefully i can go down there for a job fair this fall.. i would kill to have an internship there next summer. it would be way too hot, but i'd survive it, because i'd be soooo cool. pun intended. anywho-
poison oakies played a kickin' show at the continental club. little taste of 6th street, enough to want to go back again to spend more time. not bad for only being in town for 8 hours.
i bought more music i can't afford, this time: janet jackson, patsy cline, and the ramones. they were so cheap! i couldn't resist! and then today i check my mail and there are FOUR applications for gold credit cards. they are trying to tempt me! they won't succeed. i spend too much as it is and i don't even own a credit card. i wonder how they figured that out.
p.s. mudslingers friday at the deli KICKED ASS. i have never seen it that crowded, and i go a lot. you guys rule.

today i went and perused the booths on campus... they have it all set up with free stuff for the incoming freshman. so my friends and i went and heckled everyone, and took all the free condoms, and were generally loud and slovenly for the pleasure of the general public. it was lots of fun. just our way of saying "welcome to the festival city"
and of course the coolest part was visiting the borders booth, where i got a free poster covered with pictures of n*sync! finally something to hang over my bed!
and i found the new weezer album used at cd zone. the clerk and i agreed that someone must have been criminally insane to sell that back. but it means i got it for nine bucks, so rock 'n roll. and i bought a little richard record at shadowplay, and a pistol arrows cd. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-haw!
smooches.

10 DAYS TO KICK-OFF!!!
my first day into a search for an internship/job and i'm already discouraged. i have all these vague ideas about what kind of work i want to do, but nothing i can peg down. like, i want to work in the entertainment industry, in promotions and marketing, preferably related to music... but how the hell do i get a job doing that with a marketing degree from podunk university, middle america? i need to move to the big city i suppose. and then i also want to work in merchandising, like designing merchandise displays and visual layouts for retail stores... i need to go talk to the career services people. because i don't know where to begin! sigh. at least i'm starting early, still 2 years (at least) until graduation. i'm already scared that i won't be able to find a job. creepy!
tomorrow morning i get to be a parking attendant and charge people to park near the dorms while they move in. i will be the official bouncer of the stubbemen village parking lot. fun times! good money for a few hours worth of work. what am i looking for a "real" job for, i could just be a manager of a convience store for the rest of my natural born life. wouldn't that be fun? drunks and druggies every night for eternity!

whoa stop the presses. i have now had two, count em TWO, guitar lessons in a row. as in one a week for two straight weeks. i thought that was unhumanly possible for someone as busy my rock star instructor. but it's cool, now if i could just my pinky to work. it's still the weakest link. i'm going to austin this weekend and i'm going to soak up some skillz from all the talented people i see perform while i'm there. i will learn guitar by osmosis.
every time i drive down boyd i get really tense and scared, and i can't take my eyes of the road for more then 2 seconds. every time i get within 10 feet of another car i slam on the brakes. hmm, residue from my wreck? i'm thinking so. i need to chill the f*ck out. or just stop driving to work, i could use the exercise.
i haven't been climbing in like 3 weeks! i am getting lazy lazy lazy. so tonight i'm going to go skate around campus. work those muscles until they beg for mercy. i even for a brief (we're talking milli-)second considered joining ROTC again. just so i could be buff. and then i caught myself. who in their right mind would go run 4 miles at 6AM three times a week ON PURPOSE? not me, not anymore anyways. i need to find mary to ask her about joining the rowing team. they practice at some ungodly early hour, but i think it would be kinda fun. i could wear a little t-shirt that says "OKLAHOMA CREW" across my chest. then i'd be REALLY cool.
"stroke! stroke! stroke!"
(did i spell that right? or is it stroak? i think stroak is like, gee, my grandpa just had a stroak. who knows. i need spell check.)

something to ponder:
there are 3 kinds of people in this world
1. people who talk about other people
2. people who talk about themselves
3. people who talk about ideas
i was told that i'm a #3, but most of the time I'm NOT, usually I'm a stupid and petty #1. so from now on i'll try to be more of a #3. it's worth a shot.
another revelation, I have lots of aquantinces (how on earth do you spell that?!), and lots and lots of drinking buddies, but not so many actual friends. hmm. i am the queen of being surface-level and emotionally inaccessiable! but at least i'm still cute.
time to go swimming

the is no sugar for my kool-aid. maybe somebody accidently took my sugar when they moved out. hmm.
now there is no happy kool-aid smile on my face! good thing i learned to play the blues. i can sing the blues about having no kool-aid. sigh.
i got my car back (again) and i think they really fixed everything this time. boy i want to go find that guy that thought i was crazy for thinking something else was wrong... because something else was wrong. i should punch him in the face! that'd be fun! just because i'm a girl doesn't mean i don't know about cars. so nah nah.
yeah i'm in a bad mood so i'll quit complainin'. have a faboo day.

ba-ba-ba-ba
ba-ba-ba-ba-ba
i wanna be sedated.
ah i miss the ramones. now that i've learned my three requisit blues cords i can sing a song about how sad i am that there is no more blitzkreig bop :(
(did i spell that right?)
so who is ready for school to start....
NOT ME. but that's ok. my brain will turn to mush if i don't find something else to do besides play guitar and sell cigarettes. oh and read porn, don't forget about the porn. this week we got in the new playboy, it has that girl from survivor on the cover. i couldn't resist! she was such a bitch! so i didn't get a chance to read it yet, but there is a copy slyly hidden away for me to peruse when i get a few minutes. just have to be ready to slide it out of sight, god forbid a customer should see me. and i'll really be reading the articles! i swear!
i want to go see a movie. but i need to quit spending money. considering i still haven't paid my ticket, and there will be court costs too.. probably not a good idea! ah well. i'll call my mom instead. maybe she'll take me to a movie! last night she called and asked me if i wanted to go to galileo's. she said she had read about it in the paper and that it was supposed to be fun to go to... i couldn't believe my mom wanted to take me to bar. and then she told me how she read that donny was going to be performing in between the band's sets, and she wanted to see his show. and then i told her what he does, and she didn't want to see it anymore. mom never was much of one for fire and knives... but i thought it was cute she asked me to go. even if i did stay here and go see hosty duo instead.
i need to shut up! i have to go watch anne of green gables on PBS. i'm such a goober.

I can not believe my insurance company is going to pay that huge bill. That's like almost as much as my car is worth! My goodness. Oh well at least I have her back, and better then ever. Zoom zoom zoom.
Just got back from a pilgrimage to Eureka Springs with my mom. Yes, we went to Arkansas, and we went on PURPOSE. It's actually pretty fun. Lots of cool stores and neat people and pretty mountains... just have to ignore that whole inbreeding thing. I would love to move there and open my own shop, but I couldn't handle the stresss of surviving in the non-toursist season. And it is so hot! Someone forgot to turn off the sun.
my roomie moved out and i have an empty bedroom to run laps in. party anyone? i have 10 days with this huge place all to myself...
