i can't sleep. i have officially become nocturnal. it will turn out all right in the end, but currently i'm bent out of shape because i know in about 3 hours i'm going to start an 8 hour journey, and i'm going to be cranky by the end. do you think they serve screwdrivers on 6.30am flights? damn i hope so. in related news, i'm glad i opted for shuttle service to the hotel, because i will be way too sleepy to navigate trains and walking and bus stops. that may very well turn out to be the best $21 i ever spent. tomorrow night i'm going to try and get out to 'center city philly' to the northstarbar and check out a band. a girl who works at the co who is interviewing me told me about some sights in old market section- art galleries, and a few restaurant recommendations. when i'm walking cold city streets among strangers (seven degrees warm), i wonder if i'll miss home?

pray for me. seriously. i need a job!

so the big concern for my upcoming journey was whether or not i would be allowed to bring my knitting with me on the plane. i realize this makes me sound like an old woman, but i can make a damn pretty scarf (knit 2, purl 2). i figured out that it is allowed (thanks, dept of homeland security) after reading this file. some of the stuff near the bottom of the list is pretty amusing.

the hotel i'm staying in is quite fancy by my standards. i usually stay in a motel 6. this one has an indoor pool AND an exercise room. they're paying for it, for 3 nights! watch out big city, here i come.

listen to the danielson famile. they are neat. now i'm listening to the jet album that i downloaded - it is alright so far. and trying to download some godspeed you! black emperor off of kazaa, but i don't think they can be as happy good recorded as they are live. it's like i tell people, they are my favorite band, but i've only heard them play two times, and i don't own any of their cds. there is a reason for that. if you have seen them live you will understand....

excited about my trip this weekend. ready to hit up some jazz clubs and wander the city streets. art museums. culture. something besides my 12x14 space in edmond, ok. wish me luck!

john kerry won new hampshire. i'm still torn about who to endorse - a thought, if i can't find a job, i might go volunteer on someone's campaign. but whose? dean is the top choice around here, but i think i like edwards. i don't know.

bah. night!

This is just become a forum for me to update my life, I'm not sure I like that, but it's all I have to say at present.. so we'll just keep going.

Job in Austin was filled before I could schedule a 2nd interview. The job in Philly wants me to fly out for a face-to-face in two weeks. I'm booking a ticket as soon as I hear back a final words on dates. I'll have to miss the boys show at Galileo's :( But I'll survive. Had informational meetings with marketing directors for a few arts organizations around okc.. working up the nerve to call one of the directors of the museum of art whose name/number i was given in one of the meetings. i hate making those phone calls, but i know i have to. networking networking networking. tomorrow i'm meeting with some type of job placement organization, in regards to a position posted on the ou site, but if that doesn't work out maybe they can help me find something else. we'll see.

hank williams III is playing downtown tonight, but i feel i should starve myself of the experience in light of my upcoming journey to PA. mom is taking me out to dinner in bricktown.. cheers to walking on the canal.

be well one and all.

cheers to a nice weekend! friday i made some promising job calls. scheduled a informational interview tomorrow (that's not a job interview for those not in the know), a phone interview tuesday, and a face-to-face job interview tuesday afternoon. the face-to-face job does not at all interest me, but i need the practice. the phone interview on tuesday has me excited but i'm tired of talking about jobs and then not getting them, so i won't. and tomorrow on the list is getting another phone interview schedule for the austin job. it seems the only thing that keeps me going admist the rejection is finding more possibilities - so i'm just going to keep trying.

the best part of friday was FINALLY getting out to the ranch in arcadia and ridin' a hoss. no, seriously, i had a horseback riding lesson. it was pretty fun! learned how to groom them, saddle them, lead them around, and then i got a bit of riding in. i suck at it pretty bad but it was my first time. she was afraid i would be discouraged, but it can't be any worse then learning to play guitar or rock climb, it just comes with time. i'll call her this week to hopefully schedule some more time.

driving out to the ranch, which is east of edmond off route 66, i passed a ranch that had lots of longhorn cattle. they were standing around chewing, like cows do, and right beside a cluster of them was an old wooden wagon, with a crudely painted wooden sign, that read "no mad cows here." it was pretty funny. almost as funny as when we were bending down behind the horse, and she was demonstrating how to clean the mud out of the horseshoe, and the horse farted.

nothing compares to the muscle soreness felt in the groin post-ride. wheee for ranches!

the party friday night was a typical huge norman party. fun fun fun then the cops come and everyone goes home. momentum on saturday was awesome. i saw some familiar faces, and some great artwork. it makes me want to be arty again. i have some photos that i think could have held their own in a similar situation.

what would it be like to go and live somewhere totally new? lonely, but exhilirating. i lay tonight and dream of public transportation.

momentum is back - something fun to do this weekend.
click here, and then on the events tab, for more info.

baah i need to do stuff. not that there is anything specifically that needs to be done, but i should find things to do. because my boring lifestyle is really getting, hey, boring. i was up at 7 this morning, for breakfast with pat before he headed back east, but when I got home at 9:30, i crawled back into bed. it's not my fault! there was nothing else to do!

excuses, excuses.

i had a phone interview yesterday with a company i found on craig's list. it's for a job down in the austin metro area, specifically pflugerville, about 10 miles north of downtown. i jabbered with the HR lady at the corporate headquarters for a bit, and she said the austin people would call me by thursday.

shah, i've heard that story before. i am really getting bitter about this whole job interview process. it's getting to where i am cancelling interviews to save the trouble of worrying, because i know they'll tell me that i'm great and they love me and they want to talk with me some more, but then never contact me again or return my phone calls/e-mails.

add sta travel to list of crappy companies who don't call people back. see also: oklahoma gazette, citadel communications, wells fargo bank.

fuckers.
