Until I can figure out what it is exactly that I'm going to do, I don't think I'm going to write about it anymore. Because when I change my mind, people look at me funny, and then I feel stupid. And it is my call after all, and I don't like feeling stupid. So as a general rule it probably isn't a good idea to ask me what my plans are for the future.

Avi's last night was pretty fun. There should have been more people there, but such is life. I don't know how on earth one beer and one white russian could make me feel so kooky. Oh well!

have never more appreciated a five o'clock friday more...
cheers to being a working woman. i found what was missing. now there are new thoughts to consider. continue school? (would rather not) live in norman? (can't decide) save up money by working my ass off for a year and then taking off for god knows where?
that one is sounding better and better... in sweden i was so free. i want to be free again! but with money this time, and a job to fill up all the extra hours.
austrailia? netherlands? england? canada? no one knows where the wind may blow. but it's starting to gust ever so slightly.

Galileo's tonight. I'm dressing down. Love to all my good children.

I have had a nice productive day. And my driver said I must be adventurous. That was kind of neat to hear! Dead tired though. Must sleep... if I didn't email you back, you know I love you all the same!

p.s. Curtis rocks the casbah.

p.p.s. READ ME!

So I started my fancy neat new job today. Didn't get fired as maybe was originally suspected, and so all is well in the world of Kate. I'm doing the Monday to Friday 8 to 5er, at least until school starts. Today I sat in on the phones, and I got to practice my serious order-taking voice. Tomorrow I'm going on a run with one of the drivers. This means I get to drive all around Oklahoma City delivering Coke to people and playing around with the store displays. I talked to the driver today on the phone, and he told me the air conditioner in his truck is broken. And to wear a hat so I don't get all windblown.

GREAT. I have to be there at 7... early to bed early to rise for me. Climbing in a few minutes, yea!

nostalgia.

Wednesday, June 19, 2002

I need to make this list before I go crazy.

1. I have plenty of savings to sustain myself for awhile whether I get a job or not.
2. There are six millions places in Norman for me to live in August.
3. I WILL GET MY DEGREE.
4. I WILL NOT DROP OUT OF COLLEGE!!!

There I feel better now.
This is the part where I ask for encouragement. I know you guys have been there. I'm four years in, one to go. And it feels like I will never ever ever reach the end. Help, please. I just want to drop out and get a job, because that seems like it would be "easier." and give me more "free time." This whole financially-dependant-on-the-parents thing is making me terrible guilty. Ah well Coke just called back to see about finding a working schedule. And a travel agency in Moore is hiring for full-time consultants. Here goes nothing.

Being indecisivie is EXHAUSTING.
No coke job
(hah that sounds funny!)
schedule didn't coincide with my class times. such is life!
Another day, but no more dollars. Climbing was good tonight. I partially climbed the outer run, and waved to all the passing cars on I-40. And I got to the top of two other climbs for the first time. And strangely enough, ran into a guy I graduated from Edmond with.. we actually were walking partners in the graduation ceremony (Kacey Keller... Kate King). weird! small world. I think he works there now.

Had lunch with Logan, we ate gyros. I think my taste for greasy food is diminishing. Ah but I can definately still put away some Krispy Kreme. Matt and Brad had some leftover on top of the microwave. Those didn't last long. Climbing makes me hungry! Just finished watching Billy Elliot, while they piddled on their laptops. Wow computer geeks are funny. I wonder if it is safe for me to be riding home from random campus locations most nights after midnight? Sweden has me thinking crime doesn't exist.

Coke called me back (twice), seems there was some mix-up about my availability. They didn't seem to be clear on the fact that I have different schedules for summer and fall. But all is well, the guy said he'd call back, but he didn't, so I guess I can look for my phone to be ringing in the morning. And class tomorrow night to look forward too, and the nice guy that I sit next to in class. Right-o.

Penny says I have a nice voice. I was glad I could play in an audible location (the couch) and not feel too terribly self-conscious. It helps when people sing along. And, he taught me a song. Neat! Thanks Penny.

all apologies to the crowd at avi's.... we'll have a milli vanilli moment
"blame it on the rain!" i'm sure the guiness was fully enjoyed even without my presence.
by the time i was able to fenagle someone into giving me a ride home from the deli (thanks jeff) i was too wet and/or sleepy and/or overloaded from mass amounts of social interaction to subject myself to further journies. and i was tired from dancing too much. why do i always dance too much? i guess because that's just who i am. i remember once someone called me dancer in the dark. that was nice moment.
so.... here i sit. full of classic 50's after a long pilgrimage with logan, goldbug, and penny. full of all things good and happy in the world. like cracker barrel, and sore fingers from playing too much guitar. i have a new book to read. i might start taking drum lessons from eric's brother adam. something is still missing, but maybe i'm just a few steps closer to finding it...
whatever IT is.

smooches baby.

Saturday, June 15, 2002

So I'll be an official Coca-Cola employee soon, let's see.... and I went out last night and saw a lot of people, some old and some new. And a really cute cat. It looked like a little lion cub. My mom gave me a gift certificate that I can use for two free movie tickets and drinks and popcorn. Right. Not a single interesting thing to say. I wonder what Avi would say if I went now for my first pint? Might go to the Union to see the noodlin' documentary before I hit the big show tonight. We'll see!

tee hee.

The captain has turned on the fasten seat-belt sign. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight.
My resume is in a state of perfect bliss, I sound all professional and grown up, and competent. Imagine that! Turned it in today at what could very possibly be my dream job. On campus, access to travel... internationally related industries = happy times for kate. Tomorrow I'm headed up I-35 to Coca-Cola, on Amy's solid reccomendation. They're hiring in the customer service department. I would get to wear a neat little headset, and get paid very very well to coordinate all of the delivering and ordering activities.

I will reiterate my previous statement, TiVo is awesome. Brad and I watched cooking shows last night during the storm, hooray for cooking shows! I told him about my friend with the family Iron Chef competition, and we will totally do one once we get access to a better kitchen set-up. The Keys just doesn't cut it for serious competition cooking. And we laughed over how anyone could possibly think that cheese is a less-then-perfect choice for the secret ingredient... I am definately a huge fan of cheese-related cooking. But to each his own, as they say.

I was supposed to go and see a flick with Nate this afternoon, but he must have gotten tangled up at KJ (where he's working, well on his way to being a kick-ass DJ) cause he hasn't called yet and now it's too late because I have class at 5:30! Oh well. Still class to look forward to. Too many neat people in there to not have a fun time. I'll have to reschedule with Nate, he's one of my favorites. I'm developing a pattern of hanging out mostly with people who make me laugh. It's nice to be laughing again...

Oh and here is something that may come as a big shock to all of you out there,
I'm going to Deli on Saturday night! THIS time you really should come. Or at least go to Avi's. The keg of guiness awaits you.
(It's already calling my name...)

the template is semi-repaired - i play with html too much.
i am really not much happy with myself lately. unless i'm riding around past midnight, and i then i do silly things that are a source of cringing to myself for days. i do have fun when i hang out and watch tv with brad and matt. i think it's just the tivo. or the fact that we three maintain such a funny running commentary. it would be nice to just have a big house where i could live with all the people i like. and have my own bathroom. and someone to teach me guitar. (my skills are so stagnated. it is not cool AT ALL.)

so earlier i mentioned fluctuation. that could not be more true. while i constantly find brief respites from my icky state, still i always end up right back where i started. there are lots of reasons. i am very unsure in my direction in life. i just want to take a break. which is pretty much what i'm doing, self-induced by wanting a job but not really looking for one, and i'm still miserable. miserable in school. miserable working. miserable doing nothing. happy on my bike, happy dancing, and happy trying on running shoes. happy climbing. what the hell is all this trying to tell me? i want to figure out what's wrong.

julia! the girl sitting next to me in my night class right now works at pad thai! her name is aria.
this class is going to rock, i can already tell. why didn't i go to occc in the first place? who knows. there is also a girl named wendy who climbs at okc rocks, and a guy named joe that i met a few weeks ago at the green door. awesome. fun fun times.
breaks over, back i go to my mac.

Monday, June 10, 2002

i keep getting emails that ask me how i'm doing now that i'm home,
and it's strange because i don't really know how i'm doing. fluctuation. is a good description.
the wedding photos are up, so either look at my LJ, or you can email me if you want the link.
lots of lavendar chiffon and bemused facial expressions.

penny and i just finished watching leaving las vegas, and he wanted to know why i think its so good. i don't know. it just is. he doesn't think he'll ever be able to watch it again, but he will, i have faith... with the passing of time.

last night i watched "a streetcar named desire" with janke at his house, and i rode goldbug's bike over. now i remember why i like riding bicycles so much. i'm going to buy one soon soon soon. and he fed me tunafish, i'd never eaten tunafish before. it's pretty good.

made $105 working the dirt mall. hooray!

Saturday, June 08, 2002

You've seen Mallrats?
I work at the dirt mall!
I had the big garbage bags full of trash surrounding my legs and everything. Stray dogs kept running up to me from outside the giant car garage door that was my 'window.' And the rednecks had a ball rooting through my shit. Which I sold $50 of. Talk about a study in human pyschology..

Don't have to be there until noon tomorrow, and so,
it's off to the party I go.

Friday, June 07, 2002

I dropped my class, hoo-ray.
I started my flea market guru job, lots and lots of rednecks. with lots and lots of junk. If anyone wants to come check it out.. Cleveland County Fairgrounds on Robinson between Porter and 12th. Saturday 8-5 and Sunday 9-4. In the building BEHIND the farmer's market. Don't laugh at me. Because surprisingly I'm getting paid a whole lot to do not so much.

Matt is being a bitch (surprise), all I wanted to do was go swimming! But I have beer - a sixer of newcastle and a sixer of the new shiner bach, so I'm not going to complain too much. Climbing last night rocked.

No one let their feelings get hurt if I miss the party tomorrow. Because I have to work all of the aforementioned hours this weekend. smooches!

Thursday, June 06, 2002

I drink too much. This is a habit that will have to cease if I am too successfully complete this hard-ass class. Which I did not attend this morning. Because I am hungover. Damnit! It's met four times, and I've been there once. Damnit damnit damnit. But the Deli was pretty fun, as always. I like hanging out with my Deli friends. My friend Amy came out to say hi, then she left us for the Oil Wrestling just around the corner, but not before we made plans to cook dinner tonight and drink some wine. Not too much though, because I have class tomorrow! Damn summer school.

I also saw Donny for the first time, and got a nice hug. And a ride home in his 'new' car, I think I maybe miss the mustang a little. Either way it was nice to see him. Old friends know you best. It wasn't much fun coming home alone (again), but I suppose after doing it for so long I've gotten used to it a little. That's the thing about ruts, sooner or later you have to dig yourself out again..

Here is an email I got the other day that made me smile. This is the boy I spent the day with, wandering the National Gallery and riding the big wheel to have a pretty view of the city. We hung out with his brother + his brother's girlfriend, and got drunk and ate a fancy dinner in SoHo. Then I rode the train home with him up to Bedford, and got a pretty view of the English countryside. This = London was fun.

Hi Kate,
How's it being back in the great U.S. of A.? Hope you enjoyed your trip to England, and were able to get plenty more touristy things done on wednesday and thursday.
With the world cup started this morning, there is going to be some fairly staple televisual viewing, without many goals being scored. It is a silly sport, really, although not a sport for softies as you suggested. It is no longer friday morning but monday morning now, and the Queen's golden jubilee is under way and it is raining. How very English.
Anyway, this was just a mail to say, hey, be good, and take care. Next time you`re in England let me know, and I hope some time you can show me around Oklahoma.
Later,
Jude

I had my first physical therapy session this morning. My PT is named Eric (weird), and seems like a pretty cool guy. He did some funny things that involved pushing me around all different directions with me resisting motion, and poking around my spine. I'm having muscle spasms, in the same damn place that was always sore in my upper right shoulder (only Aaron would maybe remember that). So I got ultrasound to warm it up, and a massage. He taught me some stretches and said I really need to work on my posture. I'm going back in for a follow-up on Friday, more massage I hope I hope...

I switched into another section of Finance. This one runs the whole summer as opposed to four weeks, and meets for only one hour each morning. I can already tell I'm going to be much happier there. Not sure about the teacher, but he definately moves at a slower pace with much more detailed explanations. Good. That stuff is damn confusing! Today we spent 20 minutes learning about positive and negative cash flows. Assets up, cash flow down, Liabilities up, cash flow up. Riiiight.

Then I had lunch with the other Eric in my life (the guitar one) and he mentioned that I seem to be getting a bit more used to being home. So I guess I'm not quite as freaky as I was two weeks ago! That is good to know. He also said I'm striking. People apparently remember me quite well... mainly the girl that he's seeing remembered me from selling me a plane ticket to Sweden away long ago. She was really cool, I'm so glad when my friends date nice neat people. When I drove him home I stopped to help him feed some baby mockingbirds that fell out of their nest yesterday in the storm. They were SO cute! And hard to feed. But it was nice, that was my good samaritan deed for the day. Hope they live.

Sigh. Time to go study some more. My back still hurts, but I'm content...
Come to the Deli tonight (one guess whose playing) !

p.s. ICQ is broken. Phoo on that.

Monday, June 03, 2002

i think i just figured out why i got mad when i thought a boy liked me.
very freud.
interesting.
*yawn*
still wedding tired. probably clear, i feel very cranky. or at least i felt like i was acting cranky last night. the whole world was getting on my nerves. started summer school today. teacher is annoying.
when i came home last night i entered into a funny discussion with penny and goldbug about crushes. i have lots of crushes, and my crushes are always crushed.
my back hurts. christie thinks i pulled a disc or something like that.
i don't like it when boys give me "i want to have sex with you" looks.
unless i want to have sex with them too! but i never do.
you know this could be really interesting but in the interest of my cranky mood, fuck it.

have a nice day!

Sunday, June 02, 2002

so here i am, plus one sister-in-law and one niece. weddings make me oh-so-sleepy. it was one the more stressful activities i've participated in as of late, up to and including the whole getting lost in the ghetto of Berlin thing. but i survived! i had to get up and give a reading, and i didn't falter. everyone said i had 'such a lovely speaking voice.' riiight. i did get a bit shakey at the end, but my dad was really fast to escort me back to my seat :) yay dad! my dress was pretty. my family says i look very healthy. i think its because i have grown breasts. and they all "love love love" my hair. (haven't seen me since it was long, 2 years ago).

right, so. my brother is married. WOW.

i start school tomorrow. i can barely contain my joy, let me tell you. one year to go. i will breathe deeply and enjoy it while i can. and i did enroll at OKCCC. i'm going over twice a week and taking a class in Quark. soon i will be quite the hotshot graphic designing advertising marketing guru. or something.

now its time for a post-wedding brunch. i'm going to hide in the corner and play with my niece. no one will be the wiser!
