i'm having lots of fun hanging out with matt and brad! lots of dreamcasting and cynical teasing and stupid computer talk going on. something about some guys in Aspen who set up this service using only a big house and some pringles cans, which provided wireless internet to anyone within an eight mile radius. search for it, there's lots of interesting message board discussion. and now the boys here are convinced they can set up the same syster here... currently debating the merits of cable modems versus the pringle can set-up...
today i think is lunch with eric maybe, and perhaps some cleaning of the old empty apartment, and taking doyle back his snare drum, hmm and maybe playing some guitar. oh! i found a home for my guitar! teri is going to watch over it until i return. and maybe learn to play, it's not like she doesn't have access to the BEST GUITAR TEACHER EVER! well i guess that's all i have to say about that.

krink made some money.

and she installed a guestbook as well. go sign it! yeah i'm talking to you!

happy new year :)

brad and matt have bruised knees. i am a sore loser at chuchu rocket. but when i win... oh the screams of glee! the neighbors will wonder what chaos lies within this little apartment number 14...

now only 7 days. yikes. passport returned today from the swedish consulate, with visa safely intact. it's a pretty little stamp that says i'm allowed to stay there until june 15. and then i have to get the fuck out. matt's going to help me pack... sweaters... long undies... and, even thou i cringe at the thought, i am only allowed myself to bring 3 pairs of shoes. the pretty vans, the brown oxfords, and the black mid-calf boots... should i take my pretty summer dresses? perhaps for when i travel south they will come in handy. i hope so. the orange and green flowy one for sure, it brings me good luck (i'll have to wear it on st. patty's day again.. ahem ahem.)

second night in a row to drive to norman for fun. i have put 150 miles on my car in the past 2 days. and tonight i will drive back to edmond again, only to return here at noon tomorrow for lunch with a sarmiento. the 30 minute drive is worth a comfy bed over someone's hard and unforgiving floor. hmm.

i have to get ugly fake nails for the wedding next saturday. ugh. then i won't be able to play guitar, but i'll only be on planes anyways, and who knows how long before i can find one over there to buy. and i will buy one! i can finally play barre chords. i'm not giving that up.

enough babbles. nighty nights to all.

i sit curled in the corner. johnny cash screaming over the speakers... yelled exclamations of drunk punk rockers... i am holed in the leather chair with no legs. logged on to aol. and sad. nostalgic for times past, and times i will miss. so much going around me but instead i am contect to lay and read of my past adventures. should i be social? i will remain content. and soon sleep curled in arms, held strong, and happy.

good wishes and sweet dreams to all.

we'll see how that turns out. they had a security breach, whatever that means. it means for me to have to use LJ, which is rather stinky. o well, so long as i can get me ideas up on the page. i really miss having a computer.

for christmas here is what i got: 3 sets of long undies, 4 pairs of wool socks, a watch, a tiny travel alarm clock, some guitar magazine, a prepaid phone card, a guidebook on sweden, two novels to read on the plane, a bracelet, and a tree ornament.

oh yeah, and a semester in sweden. weee!

i miss norman. i am with friends in okc constantly to fight the boredom. all i do at my mom's house is hole up in my room and watch movies, or clean the kitchen. and i got yelled at for doing that. my mom likes to save all the crap she's had since 1972 for some odd reason.

we went to see my grandma in tulsa yesterday. i liked the last trip i took to tulsa better... it was more fun. but this time we saw my grandma and ate with her in the nursing home. stewed carrots. greenbean cassarole. and nasty ham. fun! she didn't remember my name and she didn't know it was christmas... but still glad she wasn't alone at least for one day. i promised i would send her a pretty postcard.

tomorrow (thursday) night i am going to the service station to see eric play some... probably my last time to see him before i go. reify and x-ie and goldbug and whoever else should come, cause i want to see you guys too before i go.

things i will miss about oklahoma:
greasy spoon diner style food.
trips to super wal-mart.
rednecks.

ok i'm going to shut up now.

nostalgia
old friend has returned from whence he went a year ago... and just in time to see me leave for the same snowy peaks of scandanavia. now he has a big poofy fro. he's "growing his hair out!" *snicker* why is it that i only go eat jana's when former/current residents of Keys West #14 are in town? hmm mango and sticky rice, yum. i went into his apartment for the time since he and aaron left... and the posty notes are still on the cubbord door. apparently i am still a sexy bitch, according to one i wrote oh so long ago.

in town moves for as low as $19.95
but the out of town moves sure are freaking expensive! $90 for a 30 minute trip up to Edmond. but either way all the furnyiture has been moved back to mom's. my first night home and i'm not sleeping there.. she was a little upset, but can she blame me for staying at kent's? my bed still is not reassembled, and god knows which box my sheets are in, and she keeps the damn thermostat at 60. i will never survive the snowy peaks! but i'm home. i don't live in norman anymore, and that is rather sad. and i don't have a computer, or cable tv. sigh. i pick up my laptop next week... just in time for the trip.

(returning to fro conversation) matt is having a new year's party at the old pad. last chance i suppose to see all my nutty friends. cheers to airplanes! i willl miss every one lots.

now if you'll please excuse me, my presence is requested to finish watching raising arizona, and drink some cheap champagne.

been wrapping presents, and i just reached behind to scratch my leg, and there was wrapping paper stuck to the butt of my jeans.
fastest shopping ever: 3 stores, 45 minutes, and i was done! now it's just placing pictures in frames for the gift-giving to be complete.
things i think i'm getting: long underwear. wool socks. a parka. and a watch.

get this shit... 17 days!!
i really do not need to hear tales of how other people in my position had a bad time studying abroad.

tonight i drove my car down N.W. 24th at 70 mph. the test-drive road. and i think i was slightly busted, a cop followed me most of the way home. but didn't pull me over... just made sure i didn't speed i suppose. or he couldn't catch me in time to write a ticket, so he was waiting for me to do it again. but either way i got away from uncomfortable situations at my house, and relieved a little steam. now the muppets from space is playing in the background.. and i remember why i wanted to go to sweden in the first place!

(the swedish chef)

ocean's eleven is good stuff. brad pitt is good stuff, i guess i should say. tomorrow i am running away to noble with eric to eat chicken friend steak. and apparently in sweden, there are no chocolate chip cookies. hmm.

who wants to see more pictures of me? email if you do.

weekend update
friday night: christmas party. i was one sexy bitch... red lipstick and roses... photos soon to come. once i get template blahs worked out.
saturday night: b-ball games with terri, mr. bills, and random parties. cookies with eric and nate. good conversations with michael morris about climbing and sweden, hooray for shiner bock!
sunday night: b-ball game + thai raja with my dad. rock 'n roll goodness courtsey the deli. weird party's at eric's brother's house... good pool game at least. cheap beer. and good company at home. i have made a pleasant discovery which i think just might make these last 3 weeks pretty fuckin' good...
monday: a 24 hour date. sleep, lunch at the diner, movies, the omniplex, dinner in bricktown.. and now whiskey with new friends in south OKC. i will miss this by and by, but back before i know it!

self-portrait taking won out over studying.
my final is in 7 hours.
oops!

Wednesday, December 12, 2001

why aren't the freakin' comments working!

studying=bad.
sore butt from sitting at la baguette for FOUR HOURS=bad.
being only half-way through when the test is in 12 hours=bad.
playing on computer instead of studying=bad.
my guitar, sitting innocently across the room, is starting to look good.

oh is possible for any one person to be as cool as me? i just ACED my law final. the constitution is child's play! cheap as ramen noodles! easy as the A,B,C.

i have my camera :) and i took a picture, but it is scary. me last night with my finals face. ugh. so instead we will wait until friday night, when i am all decked out in my old prom gear for the christmas party extravaganza, and then we will snap photos like mad. of all my friends that i will soon be missing... *sniff* but i have a cute date to the party. so no worries for krink.

i just made eyes at a cute boy across the computer lab. i didn't know there were cute boys in the business college. my kind of cute that is, which is different from the typical business college type of cute. the typical business college type of cute being frat boy cute. YUCK! my kind of cute is shaggy hair.. down vests.. birkenstocks... hmm yes please. thank you sir, may i have another?

up up and away
that's my new theme song. study study, ace a test, study study, ace another test, sleep, sleep, go to the service station! hear eric play! sit and talk with friends! i've been dancing around my living room in anticipation. after tomorrow it is party party party and then fly fly fly, and then..... in just 25 days....

SWEDEN!!!!!!!

Tuesday, December 11, 2001

how did the IKEA site people know to send me a wish list? how did they get my email? they must have ESP.

make an IKEA wish list
one down, two to go. tomorrow is the infamous business law exam... I spent 4 hours cramming with Erin last night at Brother's. A surprisingly good place to study, there was only one other table in the whole place, and they kept our cokes full. And we could make notes in crayon on the table paper. :) and smoke (added bonus)! We've scheduled 6 hours today to finish up. PLEASE let us get through it all, because I still have to finish my cheat sheets for the marketing exam! And don't be fooled, open note tests are much harder then the normal kind.

Moral of the story: Thursday night, 9pm, The Service Station on Webster. I'm gonna get drunk! Everybody come! Eric is playing a solo show. (no cover charge)

Night Trips
is where we took Doyle last night to celebrate his 21st. We all pitched in and bought him a spot in the "show." That means that every single stripper took a turn on him as he sat in a chair on stage. The look on his face was priceless! And then I watched a girl dance that was really bad ass, so I put a dollar on the stage for her... (we were sitting in pervert row). And she came over, pulled me OUT of my chair, and yanked up my shirt! She bit my nipple! And then she shook her boobs in my face. That was actually kinda fun! All the guys in the audience obviously enjoyed it, based on the looks they gave me for the rest of the night. Hmm. But I stuck safely with my friends. Kent and Dan were my bodyguards. And they whined about how girls always get better dances then guys do. This I think is only because then the dancers get better tips.

girls girls girls.

tee hee.

today's show was brought to you courtesy of the letter 'S' and the number '3'
if you take Michael's (UNFINISHED!) site skatenerd, and subtract the S, what have you got?
katenerd! rah!

sorry i thought that was kind of funny.

the title of this page also made me giggle today.

(krink) *ahem* you should start a blog.
(Gandalf) umm. no.
(krink) hey don't be snobby. they're fun.
(Gandalf) I know. but I'd rather not.
(krink) you think they're silly don't you. lots of people do.
(Gandalf) not really I just would never update it and the only things I write are long poorly written rants on religon and my observations on social interactions, usually while drunk. That and reams of very poor song lyrics.
(krink) yeah but i like to read that kind of stuff. all the stuff i post is absolute SHIT and even i have a few fans. or just people who feel sorry for me...
(Gandalf) I'll put some of it on my homepage. but not the lyrics. and nah. yours isn't really that bad.
(krink) not THAT bad.
(Gandalf) be proud. it takes a lot of courage to put something you write where every one can see it. It's sorta like an emotional exhibition.

Tampons Tampons Tampons
Tampons are widely available in Europe, so you don't need to carry more then one month's supply at a time.
So says my Council Travel travel planner. This, and make sure and bring flip-flops, condoms, and a swiss army knife. Interesting. But council travel is badass! If you want to go somewhere.. check them out. Cheap plane tickets (international and domestic), discounts at hotels, and get this, voicemail and email. So now everyone can call and leave me voicemail while I'm gone, which is good, because it costs about 52 cents a minute to call the US from Sweden. Once I get it set up I'll put all the info on my other "I'm going to Sweden" blog.

I am excited! I leave four weeks from today. We got lectured yesterday on culture shock. That sounds really crappy. Apparently after you've been in country for a few weeks (the "honeymoon" period), you fall into this depressed, over-critical state. You hate Europe. You hate Europeans. You just want some McDonald's and a baseball game. But then you eventually jump out of it... and you start to have fun! But then you have to go home, and that's even worse! Reverse culture shock! You just want to be back! In the land of funny accents and well-dressed men. Someone told me everyone wears black and holds their nose high in the air.

i have a pretty multi-colored dragon stamp on my hand. this is supposed to signify that i paid the $5 to get in, but i didn't. kudos for being a girl. and kudos for kegs of good beer. tonight there were parties to spare, so many in fact that i'm missing two that i was invited to. (sorry janke) but after one hour of conversation.. i'm kind of drained. so here is what everyone missed out on me saying:

"yes, school is fine. the dvd crap is done. we raised $31,000."
"yes, i'm going to sweden. i leave in 28 days... i hope i'm going to have a great time."
"yes, i'm wearing big boots. and yes, i know i don't need to be any taller."
...but i like to look down on the world sometimes. put a new perspective on things.

any questions?

so many junkies, so little junk
according to ben, i disappeared just when i began to get interesting. and so i pointed out that he didn't return any of my calls following my alleged disappearance. and to this he replied,
kate, everyone has their own book. most of them are just hard to read, but yours is in a whole 'nother language.

the sixty-four million dollar quesiton

ever wonder what it would be like if your parents, weren't your parents? what if they were in the sense they rasied you and fed you and clothed you and sent you off to school each morning, but in other ways, they technically weren't? there were really these two other people somewhere out in the world that you had never seen or heard who were responsible for your creation. everything that is in you is a tiny piece of these two strangers. your instincts. your looks. your personality. all tiny tastes of these two great unknowns. you are a combination of them.

would you want to know who they are? would your curiosity get the best of you?

mine did. i've been searching for a long time to answer that question, to understand how i was made. where it is that i came from, the belly that held me. and now i'm presented with a possible answer. most of the specs are the same... same state, same day of birth, same adoption agency... hell we even look alike. but will it be a match? tuesday is the test. one drive to OKC that could change my life.
kate is blogging all over my keyboard!
actually she wasn't really, but julia just sounded so silly saying so i had to write and say something. waiting my turn for peace and ddr. soon soon soon...

hi everyone!

i want my baby back baby back baby back...
forgive the singing. but a chili's commercial jingle is appropriate, because i got lunch at chili's today! for free! we were shuffled up into new groups in class this morning, and this guy i've never talked to asked me out to lunch after we reviewed each other's papers. how's that for boosting a girl's self-esteem? be nice to people, and some day you too may get free fajitas. and then later i saw my friend scott at the post office. further warm fuzzies! and tomorrow i am having dinner with christy! (she better call me...!) doesn't get much better then that.

now if i could just find someone to go take those pesky finals for me.

always play with their minds
yesterday afternoon i saw Spy Game with Rich. matinees on a tuesday afternoon are a definate plus. it's cheap, and empty, and much more exciting then being in class. added bonus for the two hottest men ever to grace the big screen together in one full-length feature film. brad pitt is hot. and robert redford is hotter (when you imagine him 30 years younger). prrrrrrow!

p.s. does anyone know how to mend a tear in jeans? i tried to hop a chain linked fence and ripped a hole in my favorite pair. note to self: i can NOT leap over chain-link fences in a single bound.

little, yellow, different
tonight home with papers piled up around my ears. no one is home to talk to, or else they are otherwise occupied. i think i'm getting a headache. i need some reassurement here people. so just comment this once for me. just say hi. please please please i need my friends! i am lonely. starting to hear that nasty little voice "hey no one wants you around anyways" and i KNOW that is not true. it is not it is not it is not! so nah nah nah.

:P

o where do they go when you need em?

to the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure
so there's the first harry potter finally out of the way. that's one good thing that came out of me being sick a few weeks back, i finally bought the silly book. and yes it's good! everyone was right. still not sure about the movie, i prefer to leave the centaurs and snitches to my imagination. it provided a happy distraction from my paper at least.

your boyfriends are on tv...
so said brian, to which i responded by vaulting out of bed and landing head first in front of the television. n*sync was performing at the billboard music awards. oh they are so cute! sigh.

whole step whole step half step
guitar lesson tonight with eric. does it count as a lesson if it's free? he does still make me play the stuff i don't like. that would be scales. but then we play fun blue-sey jam type things, and if i'm lucky, i get to hear him sing. this makes me happy.

Forgive and Forget
i am going to stop being ashamed of being a forgiving person. i will reign supreme as the queen of second chances!

Coolpix
already seeing the world through the LCD screen of my soon-to-be-mine digital camera. so many pictures seen that can not yet be taken, but soon will! i wonder how much footage i can get with the 128mb card i ordered? maybe 15 seconds, with audio... does the nikon have audio? don't remember. but a movie mode at least for me to play with. should arrive on my doorstep late this week.

*click*

ICQ escapades with Michael
(krink) so i will instead daydream as i watch varsity blues on FX... and think of all the places i'd rather be.
(gandalf) varsity blues... Isn't that where the girl wears the whipped topping as a bra?
(krink) yeah it's her "whipped cream bikini"
(gandalf) cool. I think I need a whipped cream bikini...
(krink) i would pay good money to see that actually.
(gandalf) really? How much?
(krink) $20 and a six pack of the beast. but i get half the beer.
(gandalf) sounds good. we need to get john to film it.
(krink) no because then he would insist that I also wear a whipped cream bikini. and i think at that sight he might explode.
(gandalf) that wouldn't be all that bad..
(krink) all that pent up sexual frustration of his would explode and then he'd be confused by the presence of two whipped cream bikinis in one room, and try to jump me, but catch you instead.
(krink) and then i'd grab the camera and start filming away, and laugh and laugh and laugh!
(gandalf) not quite the scenario I had imagined but as long as I get laid...
(krink) ok how's this:
(krink) i jump in and blind him with whipped cream, so he is subsided from attacking you, and then we shove him out the door and turn off the camera.
(gandalf) or leave it on...
(krink) either way.
(gandalf) whatever.
(krink) anywho. still reading penny arcade?

livejournal is broken. icq is broken. my computer is broken.
i am not broken yet!
galileo's was fun. telling everyone where to go for a party that didn't exist, and then getting yelled at, was not fun.
being woken up at 6:30 by knock knock knocking on my window was not fun. it is the object of the world to let krink get no sleep.... ever again.

we now return you to 80's action week on USA.
